Taxonomy
Natica comensis was named by Hoernes (1856).

It was recombined as Neritaria comensis by Böhm (1895), Kittl (1899), Pan (1982) and Zhu (1995); it was recombined as Protonerita comensis by Nützel et al. (2018).
