Taxonomy
Australobarbarus platycephalus was named by Kurkin (2000). Its type specimen is PIN, no. 4678/3, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Port Kotelnich, PIN 4678, which is in a Severodvinian terrestrial claystone/sandstone in the Urpalov Formation of the Russian Federation.
