Taxonomy
Coleoscytodes venosa was named by Martynov (1935). Its type specimen is PIN 2455/299, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Soyana (PIN collection 2455), which is in a Roadian lagoonal sandstone in the Iva-Gora Beds Formation of the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Coleoscyta venosa by Evans (1956), Becker-Migdisova (1960) and Szwedo et al. (2004).
