Hirayama et al. 2001Nanhsiungchelyid with elongate carapace, nearly twice as long it is wide; nuchal strongly emarginate anteriorly, crescent-shaped, with thickened “horns” laterally, projecting anteriorly much beyond first peripheral; first marginal scute L-shaped; cervical scute hexagonal; first vertebral scute nearly triangular, narrower than cervical at anterior end; epiplastra widened toward anterior.
