Amicus was named by Koroleva (1967) [Sepkoski's age data: O u]. It is not extant. Its type is Amicus fortunatus.

It was assigned to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cyclopygidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
