Taxonomy
Coniasaurus gracilodens was named by Caldwell (1999). Its type specimen is BMNH R44141, a partial skeleton (Partial skull, 4 dorsal vertebrae, ribs and a complete scapulocoracoid), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lidden Spout, Folkestone, which is in a Cenomanian basinal (carbonate) chalk in the Lower Chalk Formation of the United Kingdom.
