Taxonomy
Palaeagama vielhaueri was named by Broom (1926). Its type specimen is MMK 3707, a partial skeleton (nearly complete specimen), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mount Frere, which is in a Changhsingian/Induan terrestrial sandstone in South Africa. It is the type species of Palaeagama.
