Taxonomy
Wilsonastraea fraseri was named by Stevens (2008). Its type specimen is USNM 531325 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is SJS-663, Pequop Mountains, which is in a Sakmarian carbonate limestone in Nevada.
