Loxaulax valdensis
Taxonomy
Dipriodon valdensis was named by Woodward (1911). Its type specimen is BMNH M 10480, a tooth (right M2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cliff End bonebed [Fairlight Cliffs, near Hastings], which is in a Valanginian estuary/bay conglomerate in the Wadhurst Clay Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Dipriodon, Loxaulax.
It was recombined as Loxaulax valdensis by Woodward (1911), Simpson (1928), Clemens (1963), Hahn (1971), Clemens and Lees (1971), Clemens and Kielan-Jaworowska (1979) and Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
