Chalscelio was named by Rasnitsyn and Brothers (2007). It is not extant. Its type is Chalscelio orapa. It is the type genus of Chalscelionidae.

It was assigned to Jurapriidae by Rasnitsyn and Brothers (2007); and to Chalscelionidae by Rasnitsyn and Öhm-Kühnle (2020).
