Iranites transcaucasius

Taxonomy
Tompophiceras transcaucasium was named by Shevyrev (1965). Its type specimen is PIN 1478/77 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dorasham 2, Tompophiceras Beds, which is in a Changhsingian marine horizon in the Ali Bashi Formation of Azerbaijan.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Tozer (1969); it was recombined as Iranites transcaucasius by Teichert and Kummel (1973) and Korn (2014).
