Pentagnostus endemicus was named by Ergaliev and Ergaliev (2008). It is not extant. Its type locality is Kyrshabakty River, 1465-15, which is in a Zhanaarykian basinal (carbonate) lime mudstone in the Aktas Formation of Kazakhstan.
