Natica impressa was named by Münster (1841).

It was recombined as Naticopsis impressa by Kittl (1892); it was recombined as Naticopsis (Dicosmos) impressa by Tong and Erwin (2001); it was recombined as Cortinaticopsis impressa by Bandel (2007).
