Cernuolimbus was named by Palmer (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Dres-u Cm Fran-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Cernuolimbus orygmatos.
It was assigned to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); to Pterocephaliidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Pterocephaliinae by Palmer (1960) and Hopkins (2011).
