Taxonomy
Taxocrinus orbignyi was named by M'Coy (1850). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is High Thorns, which is in a Leintwardine marine horizon in the Bannisdale Slates Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Meristocrinus orbignyi by Springer (1906) and Ramsbottom (1958).
