Gansurhinus qingtoushanensis

Taxonomy
Gansurhinus qingtoushanensis was named by Reisz et al. (2011). Its type specimen is IVPP V15989, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dashankou locality, which is in a Roadian fluvial mudstone in the Qingtoushan Formation of China. It is the type species of Gansurhinus.

Reisz et al. 2011Medium-sized moradisaurine captorhinid characterized by the presence of a long diastema between the single anterior tooth and the multiple tooth-rowed region of the upper dentition. Differs from other moradisaurines in having a maximum of five tooth rows on the maxillary and dentary dental plates, with individual teeth bearing a cusp-like emargination on the posterior aspect of the crown.
