Cochleosaurus bohemicus
Taxonomy
Melosaurus bohemicus was named by Fritsch (1885). Its type specimen is NMP M1268, a skull (skull in dorsal view, lacking the anterior snout), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Nyrany, which is in a Westphalian D lacustrine coal in the Kladno Formation of the Czech Republic.
It was recombined as Cochleosaurus bohemicus by Fric (1885), Sequeira (2004), Schoch (2013) and Schoch and Milner (2014).
