Taxonomy
Athericites sellwoodi was named by Mostovski et al. (2003). Its type specimen is MNEMG 2001.47, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Durlston Bay, Bed DB65-69, Dorset, which is in a Berriasian lagoonal siliciclastic in the Lulworth Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Palaepangonius sellwoodi by Grimaldi (2016).
