Ptiolinites was named by Kovalev (1986). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Ptiolinites cretaceus.

It was assigned to Rhagionidae by Kovalev (1986) and Nagatomi and Yang (1998); and to Rhagioninae by Mostovski et al. (2000).
