Taxonomy
Ptiolinites raypearcei was named by Mostovski et al. (2000). Its type specimen is MNEMG 1999.18, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Clockhouse Brickworks (MNEMG collection), which is in a Hauterivian lagoonal mudstone in the Weald Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
