Taxonomy
Petraia minganensis was named by Billings (1859).

It was recombined as Archaeocyathus minganensis by Billings (1865); it was recombined as Ethmophyllum minganensis by Walcott (1886); it was recombined as Archaeoscyphia minganensis by Hinde (1889), Rigby and Desrochers (1995) and Liu et al. (2003).
