Taxonomy
Stylonema hibernicum was named by Longstaff (1909) [Stylonema (?) hibernicum]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chair of Kildare, eastern Ireland, which is in a Hirnantian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks/mudstone in the Kildare Limestone Formation of Ireland.

It was recombined as Loxonema hibernicum by Wagner (2023).
