It was reranked as the subfamily Armaniinae by Bolton (2003), Dlussky et al. (2004) and Bolton (2012); it was synonymized subjectively with Sphecomyrminae by Borysenko (2017).
It was assigned to Formicoidea by Dlussky (1983); to Formicidae by Bolton (2003), Dlussky et al. (2004) and Bolton (2012); and to Apocrita by Barden (2017).
