Westphaliasaurus simonsensii
Taxonomy
Westphaliasaurus simonsensii was named by Schwermann and Sander (2011). Its type specimen is Westfälischen Museum für Naturkunde in Münster P58091, a set of postcrania (almost complete postcranial skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lücking clay pit, Sommersell, which is in a Pliensbachian marine claystone in Germany. It is the type species of Westphaliasaurus.
