Deiracephalus was named by Resser (1935) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Dres-l Sepkoski's reference number: 80,379]. Its type is Acrocephalites aster.

It was assigned to Llanoaspididae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002).
