Liopleurodon pachydeirus

Taxonomy
Pliosaurus pachydeirus was named by Seeley (1869). Its type specimen is CAMSM J.46912, a set of vertebrae (atlas-axis plus 15 cervical vertebrae), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Great Gransden brick pit, which is in an Oxfordian marine claystone in the Ampthill Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was synonymized subjectively with Pliosaurus ferox by Lydekker (1889); it was recombined as Liopleurodon pachydeirus by Tarlo (1960).
