Taxonomy
Lumectospongia uncinata was named by Rigby and Chatterton (1989). It is not extant. Its type locality is Baillie-Hamilton Island, BH2, 84.3m, which is in a Ludlow slope limestone/shale in the Cape Phillips Formation of Canada. It is the type species of Lumectospongia.
