Oligaeschna separata

Taxonomy
Aeshna (Basiaeschna) separata was named by Scudder (1890). Its type specimen is MCZ 8164-11693, a forewing (forewing & fragment of hindwing), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Florissant (MCZ Collection), which is in a Chadronian lacustrine - large shale in the Florissant Formation of Colorado.

It was recombined as Aeschna separata by Kirby (1890); it was recombined as Hoplonaeschna separata by Cockerell (1908); it was recombined as Oplonaeschna separata by Wighton and Wilson (1986); it was recombined as Oligaeschna separata by Nel et al. (1994).
