Erucii was named by Burr (1899). It is extant. Its type is Erucius.

It was reranked as the family Eruciidae by Kevan and Wighton (1981); it was corrected as Eruciinae by Matt et al. (2008).

It was assigned to Eumastacoidea by Kevan and Wighton (1981); and to Chorotypidae by Matt et al. (2008).
