Taxonomy
Anomites punctatus was named by Martin (1809).

It was recombined as Productus punctatus by Tschernyschew (1902) and Keidel (1906); it was recombined as Pustula punctatus by Morningstar (1922); it was recombined as Echinoconchus punctatus by Fantini Sestini (1965) and Jin et al. (1985).
