Peligrotheriidae was named by Bonaparte et al. (1993). It is not extant.

It was assigned to Dryolestida by Gelfo and Pascual (2001) and Gelfo et al. (2007); and to Mesungulatoidea by Rougier et al. (2011) and Harper et al. (2018).
