Taxonomy
Pleurotomaria penea was named by de Verneuil (1845). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Meteftamak, which is in a Roadian shallow subtidal limestone in the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Pleurotomaria (Mourlonia) penea by Dietz (1911); it was recombined as Biarmeaspira penea by Wagner (2023).
