Taxonomy
Pleurophorus lunulus was named by Walter (1953). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rustler Formation, Locality 1, Rustler Spring, which is in a Changhsingian marine dolomite/siltstone in the Rustler Formation of Texas.
