Entomaspis was named by Ulrich (1931) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Trep-l Cm Trep-u Sepkoski's reference number: 379]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Entomaspididae.

It was assigned to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); to Harpetidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Entomaspididae by Beech and Lamsdell (2021).
