Erixanium was named by Opik (1963) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Dres-u Cm Fran-l Sepkoski's reference number: 16,489]. It is not extant. Its type is Erixanium sentum.

It was assigned to Aphelaspididae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002).
