Taxonomy
Pseudotirolites mapingensis was named by Sun (1933).

It was recombined as Pleuronodoceras mapingensis by Hou et al. (1979); it was recombined as Pleuronodoceras mapingense by Xu (1977), Zhao et al. (1978), Wang (1990) and Leonova (2002).
