Taxonomy
Orbiculoidea clintonensis was named by Waterhouse (1986). Its type specimen is NZGS BR 1180 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GS1456, Steel's House Quarry, Clinton (G45/f9498), which is in a Changhsingian marine horizon in the "Puruhauan" Formation of New Zealand.
