Taxonomy
Notostrophia alta was named by Waterhouse (1986). Its type specimen is UQF 73933 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UQ L4571, Rose's Pride Mine, which is in an Artinskian coastal sandstone/conglomerate in the Buffel Formation of Australia.
