Taxonomy
Aspidites spitiensis was named by Krafft (1909). It is the type species of Mullericeras.

It was recombined as Clypeoceras spitiense by Shigeta and Zakharov (2009); it was recombined as Mullericeras spitiense by Ware et al. (2011).
