Spirifer pseudocameratus was named by Girty (1920).

It was recombined as Spirifer (Neospirifer) pseudocameratus by McKee (1938); it was recombined as Neospirifer pseudocameratus by Gordon and Merriam (1961); it was recombined as Timaniella pseudocamerata by Wardlaw (1977).
