Taxonomy
Nucundata prolonga was named by Waterhouse (1964). Its type specimen is NZGS TM3470 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GS6071, Letham Burn (D44/f9622), which is in a Capitanian marine horizon in the Mangarewa Formation of New Zealand.
