Taxonomy
Glabripecten glaber was named by Waterhouse (1982). Its type specimen is NZGS TM3152 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is GS3616, Productus Creek, Letham Burn (D44/f9478), which is in a Wordian marine horizon in the Mangarewa Formation of New Zealand. It is the type species of Glabripecten.
