Taxonomy
Cyathophycus extendis was named by Carrera and Ortega (2009). It is not extant. Its type locality is Amarilla Creek, Cerro Viejo, which is in a Sandbian basinal (siliciclastic) shale in the Los Azules Formation of Argentina.
