Inouyia was named by Walcott (1911) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm uMid Sepkoski's reference number: 464]. It is not extant. Its type is Agraulos capax.

It was assigned to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Inouyiidae by Peng et al. (2009).
