Taxonomy
Penthetria abacula was named by Lewis (1971). Its type specimen is John Wulf coll. 6-25, an exoskeleton (body & wings), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Ruby River Site 6, which is in a Whitneyan lacustrine - large shale in the Renova Formation of Montana.
