Taxonomy
Dilatispongia tumidus was named by Botting (2004). It is not extant. Its type locality is Llanfawr Quarry 2a, Llandrindod, which is in a Sandbian offshore mudstone in the Llanfawr Mudstone Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Dilatispongia.
