Cixioides was named by Handlirsch (1906). It is not extant. Its type is Cixius maculatus.

It was assigned to Fulgoridae by Handlirsch (1906); to Eoscarterellidae by Hamilton (1992); and to Fulgoroidea by Szwedo et al. (2004).
