Cornwallia tabularia was named by Hoare (1964). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Loc. USGS 20377-PC, Rowland Quad., which is in a Wolfcamp marine grainstone in Nevada.
It was recombined as Cornwallatia tabularia by Wilson (1991), Wilson and Langenheim (1993) and Wilson (1994).
