Taxonomy
Waagenophyllum (Waagenophyllum) compactum was named by Minato and Kato (1965). Its type specimen is UHR 18206 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kahan, Kinsyozan, Akasaka, which is in a Capitanian carbonate limestone in Japan.
