Plecia elatior

Taxonomy
Penthetria elatior was named by Handlirsch (1910). Its type specimen is GSC 7257, an exoskeleton (wing & abdomen), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Tulameen river, opposite Vermilion bluff, which is in a Ypresian lacustrine horizon in the Allenby Formation of Canada.

It was recombined as Plecia elatior by Rice (1959).
